Good times at #barcampyxe

Unbenownest to me until like 48 hours ago, today was Saskatoon's own Barcamp. This is a freeform conference for the loose conglomerate niche of tech geekery, so that would include pretty much everything that's awesome. Luckily registration was free and they weren't going to let anything like oh, say a 100% increase in signups stop me from getting in. So greeted by @gingerk and @bkorte, and with a lovingly penned nametag from @dejong I hopped right in.

There were many talks going on concurrently. Not that much of a programmer or business dude, so I stuck to the touchy feely things like real world problem solving (@dalezak), digital storytelling (@smpiadmi) and podcasting (@iChris)

One standout was an early session on the success of the book, The New Rockstar Philosophy by @voyno and his comrade Hoover. It's awesome to see such cool energy from local dudes. whatever it's fueled by.

And now, some pics of a bunch of geeks tweeting about how awesome socializing is:

There was also a reflex test / electroshock therapy device present, which brought with it a certain level of hilarity. Let's Watch.

Other personal moments of triumph, I got to meet @kab0b in person, who is a gentle giant. Don't let the avatar fool you. I also got to hear what @chrispowell really thinks about the 4 hour work week, chatted with @deeannmercier about The Lighthouse and the fun of old CMS software, and waxed poetic on personal marketing with @katrinavision

Also, @sneakyfox gave me a beer! Yaaaay.

In all, it was good times in real life. I love these conferences and hope to see more. People are fun!
